Solution Summary

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

AEG EWM 1000 PCB/microprocessor swap compatibility query

The problem
The user asked whether a microprocessor from one AEG EWM 1000 washing machine could be fitted to a different AEG EWM 1000 model, and was concerned that programme settings might differ. They also noted that a replacement board with the exact same codes was expensive, while cheaper used boards had different codes despite similar connections and schematic layout.
Likely cause
No appliance fault was confirmed. The discussion supports that compatibility between boards or microprocessors is uncertain because manufacturers can change components while keeping the same model designation, so different PCB or motor variants may exist.
What fixed it
The accepted advice was that appliance engineers would normally replace a complete PCB rather than repair or swap microprocessors. A swap might work only if the microprocessor is actually faulty and the parts are genuinely the same, but exact compatibility was not confirmed. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.
Checks to try
  • Comparison of board codes
  • Comparison of schematic and electrical connections
Parts or tools mentioned
  • Replacement PCB/control board
  • Used board with different codes
  • Microprocessor

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hi. Few appliance engineers would ever attempt to repair a PCB as in the appliance repair industry they are only ever replaced and not repaired. Parts and repair information are not made available.

If you have the knowledge of how to do it you could try. It may work, assuming the microprocessor is actually faulty. The same model of washing machine should have the same parts but manufacturers do change components but keep the model numbers sometimes so you can have the same brand and model with for example, different motors, different pcbs.

Understood just to get a new board with exactly the same codes as mine is very expensive 150 eyro and I find used much cheaper to interest me to repair my washing machine have different codes but exactly the same schematic and connections in this case it can work but perform other washing programs; does anyone know if it's worth the money ??
