Zanussi Z716WT83BI
My integrated washer dryer doesn’t heat up as it did before on a wash/dry programme.
I have changed the heating element, checked the front drain, and cleared out any minor clogged lint seen.
I noticed yesterday on a drying cycle it starts but after 5 mins double beeps and stops any ideas? The machine is only 2 years old.
Solution Summary
AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Zanussi Z716WT83BI drying cycle stops with double beep and no heat
- The problem
- Integrated washer dryer Zanussi Z716WT83BI was reported not to heat on the drying cycle. The drying programme started but stopped after about 1 to 5 minutes with a double beep. The poster had already changed a heating element, checked the front drain and cleared minor lint, but the drying fault remained.
- Likely cause
- The discussion indicates the fault is on the drying side only, which has its own heater, thermostats and controls separate from the wash heating system. The strongest diagnosis suggested was that the drying heater may not be operating and the appliance may be aborting the cycle, although another drying-system fault causing an early abort was also considered possible.
- What fixed it
- No confirmed repair was posted. Recommended diagnosis was to determine whether the drying heater had run before the cycle aborted; if not, investigation should focus on the drying heater circuit and related controls. Exact failed part or repair was not confirmed in the thread.
- Checks to try
- Wash and dry functions distinguished as separate systems
- Drying cycle observed stopping early with double beep
- Front drain checked
- Minor lint cleared
- Heating element reportedly changed by the poster
- Parts or tools mentioned
- heating element
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hello Paul. Do you mean the wash cycle or the dry cycle? They both have their own heating element, and both have their own thermostats and control systems. I've never heard of a washer dryer that didn't heat on either the wash cycle all the dry cycle.

Hello there Paul. I have a full article on this topic on whitegoodshelp where I have written advice about Washer dryer not heating on the drying cycle

It is possible that the fault detection has not detected the heating element working and is aborting the drying cycle with an error code. Though it's also possible that some other fault is causing it to abort. I would put the washer dryer onto a drying cycle and then when it cuts out and beeps, disconnect the washer dryer from the mains, take off the lid, and then carefully touch the metal housing on top that contains the heating element. If it is stone cold then the heater has obviously not run at all, and therefore everything in my article above should be relevant.
But if it is warm, then the heating element has clearly been energised and has started to heat up but some other fault has caused the cycle to abort.
