This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Matsui MWM145W drum belt refitting is done from the top

The problem
On a Matsui MWM145W washing machine, the drum belt had come off and the user could not see how to refit it because the back panel did not appear removable and access from underneath only showed the motor.
Likely cause
The belt had come off. The accepted reply says this is a common issue on some designs, but no exact cause for the belt coming off was confirmed.
What fixed it
Refit the belt from the top of the machine by removing the lid, with the appliance unplugged. The accepted solution says the belt can be awkward to fit and cable ties can be used to hold it in place while turning the drum pulley to feed the belt on.
Checks to try
  • Confirmed model: Matsui MWM145W
  • User could see the motor from underneath but not a removable back panel
  • Accepted advice was to access from the top with the lid removed
  • Machine should be unplugged before attempting the work
Parts or tools mentioned
  • Drum belt
  • Cable ties

Safety: Unplug the machine before attempting belt refitting. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

This is a common problem with some (daft) designs. You have to do it from the top with the lid off (and machine unplugged of course). I've found some can be quite tricky. I used to use cable ties on some to hold the belt in place while I turn the drum pulley to feed the belt on.
