Maytag Performa Pav2300Aww; Ton Of Crud Under Tub Cap!
Greetings!
My Performa was smelling musty even after running several cycles of hot water with Affresh™, so I decided to take off the tub top and have a look. This is what I found.
(If you can't see the image, the entire underside of the tub cap is covered in a thick mat of crud.)
How does dirt get up into the tub top in the first place? The water level's never supposed to go that high, is it? But it must have been happening consistently for years to accumulate that kind of buildup...

Do you use mostly low temperature washes, use reduced detergent quantities and/or liquid detergent?
