Whirlpool AWM 1200 (2002) sometimes not draining after washing

We have a Whirlpool AWM 1200/1 (released around 2002).
Around 1 in 10 washes, the water is removed from the drum but the clothes are very wet and heavy.
We have to pop it on the short Fast Spin cycle to remove most of the water from the clothing.
Any ideas?

It could potentially be uneven loads preventing spin Washing machine won’t spin just one item or very small load
