WDUD 9640 drain Pump (J10)

Hi, our machine was displaying a F05 error code. I cleaned out the hose and pump and still showed the code, so bought a new pump and just fitted it.

The issue now is although there is no error code the new pump does not seem to be working, as in no water leaving the machine at all. There are no leaks and the rest of a cycle works fine. What would be the next option? Replace the power cable to the pump?

Any thoughts or advice would be awesome.

thanks

Hotpoint WDUD 9640 F05 drain fault after pump replacement

The problem
The washing machine showed fault code F05. The hose and pump were cleaned, then the drain pump was replaced. After fitting the new pump the error code cleared, but the machine still would not pump water out. There were no leaks and the rest of the cycle appeared to work.
Likely cause
The accepted reply suggested the replacement pump might not actually be running, or that an obstruction inside the pump or filter was still preventing drainage. It was noted that items such as coins, grips or buttons could have been displaced during repair and ended up in the pump area.
What fixed it
Recommended action was to confirm whether the new pump is running and to check again for obstructions inside the pump and filter. No confirmed repair beyond this advice was documented, and replacing the pump wiring was not confirmed as necessary.
Checks to try
  • Cleaned hose
  • Cleaned original pump
  • Fitted new drain pump
  • Observed that no water was leaving the machine
  • Checked that there were no leaks
  • Advised to check whether the new pump was running
  • Advised to inspect pump and filter for obstructions
Parts or tools mentioned
  • Drain pump

Hello Aaron. Is the new pump definitely running? Check for obstructions inside it as obstructions such as coins, grips, buttons etc could have been dislodged or moved from elsewhere inside the washing machine and got inside the pump or filter if it was laid down to repair. I also have an article on that error code here Hotpoint Error Code F05
