Samsung ecobubble woes

I have a Samsung ww80j5555ew/eu that won't start any cycle. Lights up as usual but pressing start just gets the cycle light flashing. Child lock is off and error code scan brings up all clear.

I don't hear the door lock so assumed it was that, replaced part and still the same.

Drain filter is cleaned regularly although I did have to drain it when it stopped halfway through its last wash

Drive belt is still attached, motor brushes are fine. Drum spins freely.

At a bit of a loss now, for a machine that has just gone a month outside of its 2 year warranty I'm not impressed with Samsung.

Hello there. It's notable how many people have posted in these forums that they had the same symptoms and replace the door lock with no improvement. The door lock is first suspect when a washing machine lets you select a wash cycle but when you press start nothing happens. However, if it doesn't let you select a wash cycle then it may be something else.

The door lock is just designed to stop the washing machine from working if the door is open. So a problem with the door catch mechanism can also cause the same problem because it doesn't activate the door lock properly. Also there is always the possibility that a new door lock has been fitted incorrectly somehow.

Unfortunately there are multiple different potential causes if it is definitely not the door lock, and some of them can even be bizarre. So for example some Indesit and Hotpoint washing machines can create the exact same symptoms if the motor is open circuit. That is you switch the washing machine and the lights come on the display comes on but the whole washing machine is dead. This is something completely counterintuitive and you would never in a million years suspect an open circuit motor to cause that. Any problem with the motor will normally just cause the motor to not run but everything else would work fine. So unfortunately there's not much else I can advise you to check other than what I've already just mentioned.
