Hotpoint Washing Machine H2O error
Hey Guys,
My washing machine kept throwing h2o errors on start up. There was no water getting to the machine.
I went ahead and replaced the solenoid and water seems to be getting to the machine. Problem is it throws this h2o error every few minutes.
I've attached a video of this.
Any help would be hugely appreciated
Thanks 🙏

Hotpoint washing machine showing H2O due to drain hose siphoning
- The problem
- A Hotpoint washing machine showed H2O on start-up. Initially there was no water entering, so the inlet solenoid was replaced and water then entered the machine, but the H2O error still appeared every few minutes.
- Likely cause
- The accepted diagnosis was that the machine was filling but the water was siphoning out because the drain hose was pushed too far down into the standpipe, so the appliance did not detect a proper water level.
- What fixed it
- The drain hose position in the standpipe was corrected so it was not inserted too far. The original poster confirmed this resolved the fault.
- Checks to try
- Confirmed water was getting into the machine after the solenoid was replaced
- Considered that H2O means water was not being detected
- Checked whether the drain hose was pushed too far into the standpipe and causing siphoning
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Inlet solenoid

Hi Evan. H20 usually means it's not detected any water. However, it should take a couple of minutes before it decides there is a fault. This is because when it starts to fill with water it starts to time the process, and should only decide there's an error after it times out and to should allow a reasonable amount of time.
If water is running into the machine could it be siphoning out? This could happen if the drain hose pushes into a standpipe and the hose is pushed in too far.
How long does it fill before it gives the error after starting to fill?
