Hotpoint Ultima Extra Wma64. Drum Not Turning E32 Fault Code
Hi ..My washing machine has given up on me this morning so looking for some guidance please.
Hotpoint ultima extra wma64.
Been running for over 10 years without any trouble but last night it was making a bit of a squealing noise whilst the drum has turning (slowly, not spinning fast).
Put a load in this morning and the drum will no longer turn.
I put it through the test program and the fault code is E32 (motor cut out open circuit)
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hotpoint Ultima Extra WMA64 drum not turning with E32
- The problem
- Hotpoint Ultima Extra WMA64 washing machine stopped turning the drum. Before failure it made a squealing noise while the drum was turning slowly. The test programme reported fault code E32, described in the thread as motor cut out open circuit.
- Likely cause
- Worn motor brushes. This was strongly supported by the original poster finding there was virtually nothing left on the brushes, after confirming the drum and motor both moved freely.
- What fixed it
- The accepted advice was to remove the belt and check whether the drum or motor had seized. The poster then confirmed neither was seized and replaced the motor brushes. This resolved the fault.
- Checks to try
- Ran the test programme and obtained fault code E32
- Removed or checked the belt-related movement to confirm the drum and motor both moved freely
- Inspected the motor brushes and found they were virtually worn out
- Parts or tools mentioned
- New set of brushes
Safety: Isolate the appliance from the electricity supply before removing panels or replacing parts. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Sounds like the drum or motor may have seized up. Take off the belt to see which one it is.

Niether, Both are moving freely. Think it is the brushes. virtually nothing left on them.
Yes brushes are very common. It's just the phrase drum won't turn has more than one meaning and combined with the noise I went for the other one
