Indesit mytime ewd81483wukn
hi I got this machine just over a year ago it's worked great until about a week ago! The last time it was used it finished its cycle no problem.
I put a load in the machine and when you turn it on all the lights and digital display flash it all gradually goes dimmer and the machine does nothing! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as indesit wasn't interested as its over a year old.
Solution Summary
AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Indesit MyTime EWD81483WUKN powers up with flashing, dimming display and no operation
- The problem
- The washing machine had been working normally, then on the next use all lights and the digital display flashed, gradually dimmed, and the machine did nothing. After trying a different wall socket, the flashing remained but became constant rather than dimming.
- Likely cause
- Most strongly supported diagnosis was a power-related fault. Suggestions in the discussion were a faulty electrical connection, a fault on the control panel or main PCB, or a burned/faulty connection on the door lock. The exact cause was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- The accepted advice was to try the appliance from a completely different wall socket, including temporarily via an extension lead. As this did not cure the fault, the thread only supported checking visually for anything obvious and avoiding speculative replacement of expensive parts. Exact repair was not confirmed. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.
- Checks to try
- Tried the machine in a totally different wall socket
- Observed that the flashing then remained constant rather than gradually dimming
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Extension lead
Safety: Do not bypass safety components. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

First thing I would try is plugging it into a totally different wall socket. Even if you have to temporarily use an extension cable.

Sadly it's still just flashing but it is a constant flash rather than diminishing.
Many thanks for replying to my query.

Hi. It still sounds like a power problem. Could be a faulty connection or a fault on the control panel or main PCB. Or even a burned out or faulty connection on the main door lock.

Thanks for your advice Andy! Looks like I'm taking the lid off the machine and having a look!!
Always worth a look for anything obvious but I wouldn’t start speculatively replacing expensive parts.
