hi

my zanussi fs1555w washing machine was on a wash cycle then a bit of a screech and it stopped!

door opens fine and all lit up as it should.took back off as i thought belt had snapped but not the case!

took washing out and found drum not spinning at all!

is it kaput and do i need a new machine or can i fix it? myself would be good!

and is it worth repairing.if the bearings are seized can they be unseized?

of course you guys might know something different to me!

many thanks

kevin and anna

If the machine has been very noisy of late, such as a deep rumbling noise on spin, then the bearings could have seized up but it might be more likely that something has jammed the drum. It could be something like a nail or coin. It's even possible for the belt to have broken and got tangled up in the drum pulley at the back. Most washing machines need a new rear half of the tub with bearings already pressed in or even a complete tub these days making it a pretty expensive repair.

Unfortunately you may need to get an engineer out to find out what's caused it and if it's serious or not.
