Whirlpool W120 Motor Test
Whirlpool washing machine: Model w120
Motor: CESET MCA52/64 - 148 IRN1
7 Pin connector
Pin 1 : Yellow, Pin 2: Grey, Pin 3: Black - These three pins shows continuity to each other.
Pin 4: Blue, Pin 5 : White, These two pins shows Continuity to each other. If I disconnect one of the carbon brush connector then no continuity between pin 4 and 5
Pin 6 and 7: RED, they shows continuity of 4 ohms.
I do not have an insulator tester. How can I test if the motor is OK using an analogue multimeter ?

The three that show continuity between them are probably the field coil.
Pins 4 and 5 sound like the carbon brushes and armature
The other two (will usually be much thinner) sound like the tacho coil.
If you are getting continuity between them all they are likely to be ok, at least in the sense that the motor should at least try to run. You can't test for insulation safety without a specialise insulation test meter (megga). If the brushes are ok (neither of them burned or charred) and the continuity tests ok with a multi-meter it would suggest the fault may lie elsewhere and I would get an engineer to be honest.

Thanks for the update Tabby. Many people don't take the trouble :-)

I called an engineer and he told me that it is the timer. Its not worth repairing. Time to get a new machine.
