Blown Circuit Board On Aeg Lavamat 76910

Having changed the door lock mechanism on the washing machine... i did one wash and then at the end heard a load

crackle noise and machine went dead..no lightis ect...

My question - is this common - what may have been the cause?

If you'd wired the door interlock up wrong the washing machine wouldn't have worked so you must have wired it correctly. Maybe a connection or wire came loose and shorted out? Maybe water from a hole in the door seal shorted something out.
