Washing Machine Dead

The other day my washing machine stopped mid-programme and has refused to do anything since. The on / off switch also appears to have become jammed. I have checked the fuse and that's fine. Any ideas what can be done?

Unfortunately this is very frustrating as there are clothes sitting in a pool of water in the drum and the door is still locked. Is there any way I can at least get the door open to remove the clothing?

If the washing machine is totally dead with no signs of life on any programme - but the fuse is OK, AND the wall socket is OK, then the most likely causes are a faulty door interlock or on / off switch.

Here's how to drain the washing machine and get the door open door jammed Washing machine door won't open

You need a continuity test meter to be able to diagnose the fault ideally.
