Bosch washing machine beeps twice won't start

Model WAT28371GB/01 VarioPerfect EcoSilence Drive

The fill hose came off the soap dispenser causing a small water leak. So I removed both front panels and reattached the hose. Afterwards machine beeps twice and displays the door lock symbol. No error code displayed.

I've replaced both the door lock and the cable (from Bosch) but it still does the same thing.

The control panel seems OK. I can select any program and the correct times are displayed but soon as you press start you get the double beeps and the door lock symbol.

I've tried numerous different reset procedures found on the Web but Im not convinced I have found the right one for this machine. Vids suggest that the reset process should light up all the segments on the display but that never happens.

Anyone know the correct reset proceedure?

I'm an electronics engineer so know how to work safely on the machine.

Anything else to try?

It's remarkable how many people have replaced the door lock when suffering from this type of error and it didn't fix the fault. If it's not the door lock up fault it can only be wiring, or a problem with the door latch not activating the door lock properly. There shouldn't be any reset process necessary. With a washing machine, if there is a fault, then the washing machine will not work and all display an error code. As soon as the fault is fixed the washing machine works normally.

As this fault only occurred after removing the front panel the overwhelming suspect is that something went wrong during this process. So I would remove the panel again completely check all of the wiring and fixing of the door lock. I would also examine (probably first) the door latch. Is it okay not broken in any way, is it spring-loaded in one direction so that you can bend the latch against a spring and the spring then forces it back? Try spraying a little WD 40 inside the door lock and on the door latch.
