Dear all,

2 days ago I bought a new Bosch WGA242X4OE washing machine.

I made necessary connections ( water, electricity and drain ).

For the first start, I closed the door and choose drum clean programme.

Right after pushing start ( heard a proper start sound ), locked the door ( i checked with my hand. the door properly closed&locked ).

In 2-3 second machine unlocked the without any washing or water filling operation.

And then i checked other programmes and so on, but no success. Machine doesn't work.

I called the service, and they gave me 20th of March day the technician visit.

Is there anybody who had such problem or bug ??

Solution Summary

AI-generated from this discussion

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Bosch WGA242X4OE new washing machine locks then immediately unlocks and will not start

The problem
A new Bosch WGA242X4OE washing machine would not begin any programme. After Start was pressed, the machine made the normal start sound, locked the door for 2-3 seconds, then unlocked again without taking in water, spinning or moving the drum.
Likely cause
Most strongly supported diagnosis was an internal fault on the new appliance. Power supply was present because the machine responded and locked the door briefly. No exact failed part or repair was confirmed.
What fixed it
Forum advice was limited to basic checks: make sure the door is properly closed and not obstructed, and try the machine from a different socket. As the machine still only locked and unlocked and would not run, service attendance was the recommended next step. The exact repair was not confirmed in the discussion.
Checks to try
  • Tried multiple programmes including drum clean and spin only
  • Confirmed the door appeared to close and lock properly
  • Advised to try a totally different socket
  • Advised to check the door was not obstructed and the door seal was not peeling off

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

It probably doesn’t make any difference but you should close the door before starting the wash cycle.

Does it do anything on a spin only cycle?

no spin, no move. just locking the door and unlocking it. that's it.

i tried both. first close the door, and start. start and close the door.

doesnt move at all.

Unfortunately it sounds as if there could be a fault on it. Obviously there is power to the appliance. Apart from just doublechecking it in a totally different socket, which is another long shot, and ensuring that the door is closed properly not obstructed by the door seal partially peeling off (which can happen) there's nothing else you can try.
