Samsung washer noisy on drain with plastic debris and heavy leak
- The problem
- During the drain cycle the washing machine made a lot of noise and a thumping sound. The debris filter contained chewed-up plastic and gravel-like plastic fragments. On the next use the machine began leaking a large amount of water.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply says the plastic debris could be from the drum paddles or the plastic outer tub, with coin damage suggested as a possible cause. The strongest concern is that the outer tub may have been punctured, causing the leak.

The bits of plastic could be from the plastic paddles at the other side of the drum or from the plastic outer tub. Sounds like possible coin damage. If it's punctured the outer tub, which are unfortunately mostly only made of plastic these days it could be an expensive repair. You need to safely disconnect the machine and carefully examine the outer tub for damage.
