John Lewis Jlm1403 Integated Washer Dryer Drum Bearings

I've been reading your forum which i must say is extremley informative. Whilst looking for a replacement washer/Dryer reading reviews the John Lewis JLM1403 Seamed to have good reviews. We contact John Lewis with regards their on line offer of three years warranty, but non available as the model had been discontinued. However we found an alternative supplier on line and purchased. for 25 months we've been very satisfied with machine until last week when it developed an very loud noise when spinning. After reading your forum I've looked into the fault, which appears to be drum bearing failure. Unfortunately my model has sealed drum where the bearing cannot be replaced without changing the whole drum/Tub assembly.
Bearing in mind the machines age is the machine worth repairing or replacing for a more robust unit of better quality?

Thanks Mick. When you say you found an alternative supplier online does that mean it was a similar machine but not John Lewis brand or was it second hand? I've not heard of any one else selling the exclusive John Lewis washing machines.
If you'd bought it from John Lewis I would be recommending you complained to them that it hasn't lasted a reasonable time and is unrepairable by design quoting the Sale of Goods Act. You could still try that with the retailer you bought it from if it was new. Other than that, these sealed tubs are basically unrepairable because of the costs is involved which is why I believe you have a strong case under the Sale of Goods Act, which I discuss on Whitegoodshelp here - Sale of Goods Act gives us 6 years to claim for faulty appliances
