Indesit Iwc6105 Drum Not Turning

Hi,

We have an Indesit IWC6105 washing machine around 3 years old.

The drum has stopped turning. It did have a moment where all the lights flashed on the front console and the manual said to turn it off at the plug for a moment and switch it back on again which we done. The lights stopped flashing but didn't do much else to help fix the problem.

I have taken off the rear panel and the belt is still attached and ok although it does seem quite easy to rotate the drum, ie not a lot of friction.

When we set the machine to spin only the programme starts, the door locks but nothing happens, you can hear a couple of clicks as if something is trying but the drum does not turn.

Indesit want over £100 to come out and have a look then parts plus labour to fix it or I could sign up to a £15 a month plan to repair or replace it.

I am considering just getting a new... NOT indesit machine unless anyone on here has any ideas.

Thanks

This article is designed to help with washing machine drum not turning and contains mention of (and a link for more info) the possibility of worn carbon brushes which is a very common cause of the motor not running (though not the only possible cause).
