Aye, these days water levels on wash are so low that hot water doesn't really splash much onto the door. If the machine finishes the cycle in normal time and laundry is clean it should be working ok.

There are 2 possibilities here, depending when you stopped the machine. Firstly the heating element hadn't had a chance to do its job yet. Secondly the water had a chance to cool given enough time. You certainly shouldn't be able to touch water which is 60 degrees in temperature.
oh yeah both answers make sense, however I stopped the machine while there was still water in the drum (I know technically meant to let it finish cycle) and the water was luke warm. it appears to be washing clothes as normal and does the cycles as nomal and in normal time, is this normal?
can do, depends on the door. My hotpoint door has 2 layers of plastic with air in between.
