Hotpoint Bhwd129 Won't Drain
I have a Hotpoint bhwd129/uk/1 which won't drain, it fills, washes but when it comes to draining it attempts to drain for a second, then stops after a short while the lights begin to flash
(across the bottom flashing amber lights 1200 600, extra rinse, super wash ,eco wash and start pause, also on the vertical amber lights from the top 2(spin), 3(dry), the door locked red light is also lit ( but I guess this is always lit in operation.)
I have checked the filter and hose, also I have changed the drain pump but the problem persists.
any help would be appreciated
thanks

AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Hotpoint BHWD129/UK/1 will not drain and drain pump cuts out
- The problem
- A Hotpoint BHWD129/UK/1 washer-dryer fills and washes normally but will not complete draining. It appears to try to drain for about a second, then stops, after which multiple amber lights flash. The door locked light remains lit during operation.
- Likely cause
- The discussion supports that the drain pump is starting but then cutting out. Suggested causes were the pump overheating, jamming, having an internal fault, loss of power supply to the pump, a PCB fault, a pressure system fault, or a faulty connection. The exact cause was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- No confirmed repair was documented. The strongest advice was that diagnosis should focus on whether the pump is physically stopping due to its own fault or whether its power supply is being interrupted. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.
- Checks to try
- Filter checked
- Hose checked
- Drain pump replaced
- Observed pump propeller spinning when drum was manually emptied
- Pump could be heard making a draining noise before cutting out
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Drain pump
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

When you say it attempts to drain for a second, have you established if any water gets pumped out at all? In other words does it pump a small bit out then stop or does no water come out at all? Also, can you hear if the pump is running when it does this?
Have you checked through this article? Washing machine won’t drain water

The pump does spin, it makes the draining noise , I also know when I manually empty the drum I can see the propeller spin but then it cuts out.
does this seem like a PCB problem?
Unfortunately in order to diagnose such a fault you would need to establish if the pump is cutting out due to overheating, getting jammed or an internal fault, or it's stopping because the power supply is getting cut off. If the power supply is cutting off it could be a pcb fault or a fault on the pressure system, or even a faulty connection somewhere.
