Hotpoint WDPG8640GUK not draining despite pump, wiring and PCB replacement
- The problem
- A Hotpoint WDPG8640GUK washer dryer would not drain. The owner reported that the machine could be manually drained and that hoses and pipes had been checked with no blockage found. The drain pump, pump wiring and a PCB had already been replaced, but the fault remained and the pump appeared not to be receiving power.
- Likely cause
- The discussion most strongly supports an electrical supply issue to the drain pump: either no live feed or no neutral return to the pump. Contributors also noted that many non-drain faults are caused by a jammed pump or blockage, but the owner stated the pump was new and the pipework was clear.
- What fixed it
- Stop replacing parts speculatively and carry out a proper fault-finding check of the drain system and pump supply circuit. The accepted advice was that if the pump is not running after replacement, the fault is likely in the feed or neutral return rather than the pump itself. The exact repair was not confirmed in the thread.
- Checks to try
- Checked all pipes and hoses for blockages
- Machine could be manually drained
- Drain pump replaced
- Pump wiring replaced
- PCB replaced
- Observation that the pump was not getting power
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Drain pump
- Pump wiring
- PCB
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

It could be something really simple in the end but you can't keep guessing at parts. The pump wiring and the PCB are exceptionally unlikely to be the cause. You should only replace a pump if you know it is getting activated and has a neutral return and is not physically blocked but isn't running. If a pump isn't running , most of the time something is jammed inside.
Essentially you need to work through all the things in this article which covers every possible cause I could think of Washing Machine Won’t Drain Water

I'm not sure whats on your link I haven't done I have checked all pipes and there are no blockages as you can manuelly drains the machine fine and with a new pump, pump wiring and pcb it can't be these the pump simply does not get any power so what else could it be
Hello Stephen. The link contains all likely causes for. Washing machine not draining water. Where to look for a fault depends on if the pump is running or not. Both scenarios are covered. If the pump is running but not draining there is a link to this article Can’t find blockage but washing machine still not draining
If the pump isn’t running and it’s been replaced it can only be because it isn’t getting a live feed or has no neutral return. If there’s no break in live or neutral to it and the PCB has been replaced I can’t think of any explanation.
