Hole In Seal - Indesit
Hi, I have had my washing machine just under a year (2 days out from guarantee ending) and yesterday I went to the machine and saw rubber
bits all over the washing and seal. A hole has appeared in the seal (see picture). I can't see any leaks but surely this cannot be good. A 20p was in the wash when the stuff came out. I thinking this could be culprit? Indesit said if accidental damage there will be a charge so am thinking not to call out and get someone in to put in a new seal, or a patch to repair. I am based in Nottingham. If anyone can help me find a solution I would be very grateful. Thanks, Sarah

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Indesit washing machine seal hole identified as normal drain opening
- The problem
- The owner found rubber bits on the washing and around the door seal of an Indesit washing machine and noticed a hole in the seal, suspecting damage possibly caused by a 20p coin left in the wash. No water leak was seen.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply said the hole was most likely the normal drain hole found at the bottom of many washing machine door seals, rather than damage. The rubber debris was noticed at the same time, but its source was not confirmed.
- What fixed it
- No repair was confirmed as necessary. The advice was that if the hole is at the 6 o'clock position and there is no leak, it is likely to be the normal drain opening in the seal.
- Checks to try
- Observed no leak from the machine
- Checked whether the hole was at the 6 o'clock position on the door seal

Are you sure that's not the draining hole in the bottom of most washing machine door seals? If it's bang on the 6 O'clock position and there's no leak then it must be. A hole that size where it shouldn't be would result in a flood unless it was quite high up.

must be that. I think I must have noticed it and the rubber bits at the same time. Thanks a lot for your help.
