Mrt Motor Module

I have a W526 and needed a new motor module, after giving Miele machine serial number they sent part 7785400.

The new part arrivived but it did not have the hole for the small brass pin which is located by one of the bolts. I thought the pin made contact with a component on the board so I swapped the top over off the old unit refitted and all works ok.

My questions are what does the pin do, was the new module reviesd so as not to need the pin?

Miele W526 replacement motor module query

The problem
The owner fitted replacement motor module 7785400 to a Miele W526 after supplying the machine serial number. The new module did not have a hole for a small brass locating pin present on the original unit, leading to concern about the pin’s purpose and whether the replacement design had been revised.
Likely cause
The discussion does not confirm a fault with the replacement part. The issue appears to be uncertainty over a design difference between the old and new motor module.
What fixed it
The accepted advice was to ask Miele directly, as they supplied the part and should be able to confirm the purpose of the brass pin and whether the replacement module was revised not to use it.
Checks to try
  • Original and replacement motor modules were compared visually
  • The owner swapped the top from the old unit onto the new module and reported that the machine then worked
Parts or tools mentioned

Sounds a bit strange that, but I've not seen one so can't advise other than to ask Miele. It should be something they would answer as they sold you the part.
