Washer Drier WD64 Wiring
The belt came off my WD64 and this took out the wiring around the mains filter that managed to wrap the Green/Brown wire off the mains filter around the pulley. The next bit is all my fault because I made an assumption and didn't look properly in poor light. The other end of the wire had been pulled off the mains push button switch and I had to remove the timer to find it, in doing so I assumed the plastic plugs connected to the timer will only fit in their respective places so I didn't notice that the top two blue plugs are interchangeable. One blue plug has all white wires to it and the other has all black wires. There was a big flash/bang when I turned on the machine as two tracks on the timer evaporated, fortunately I have another timer. Can anyone help?

These things are tricky. If there were two interchangeable plugs and you guessed but it blew up, is it safe to assume that they fit the other way? Unfortunately there's no way of knowing if the flash and short has damaged something else or not.

Yes a big flash like that can wed contacts in the pressure switch or damage the door lock. The main worry is if it damages components in the control module or pcb control panel. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the reply, that is exactly what I was about to do. As far as I can see the worst that can have happened is some welded contacts in the pressure switch and some switches on the front panel. My local Hotpoint parts supplier has a shelf full of bits for the WD62/64. If you see a pall of smoke over Liverpool you'll know I got it wrong :-)
