Bosch Classixx 6 (2005)

I have a Bosch Classixx 6 1200 spin washing machine.

It keeps showing a Fault F16. I looked up this fault and it says keep door closed or linen stuck.

I replaced the door lock mechanism with a new one after checking wiring and original door lock and trying all other possibilities.

After putting the machine back together it is still showing the same fault code.

Any ideas about what to do next?

Thanks C

Bosch Classixx 6 showing F16 despite new door lock

The problem
A Bosch Classixx 6 1200 spin washing machine repeatedly showed fault code F16. The owner had already checked the wiring and original door lock, then fitted a new door lock mechanism, but the same fault remained.
Likely cause
The strongest supported diagnosis is a door closure/latching issue rather than the replacement lock itself. The accepted reply says the quoted fault description may be unreliable because Bosch fault codes can vary by model, and suggests checking whether the door latch is intact and securely engaging in the door lock.
What fixed it
Check the door latch on the door and confirm it is correctly and securely latching into the door lock. The discussion also questioned the accuracy of the fault-code interpretation for this exact model. No confirmed repair was posted after this advice.
Checks to try
  • Checked wiring to the door lock
  • Checked the original door lock
  • Replaced the door lock mechanism with a new one
  • Advised to check the door latch on the door is secure and engaging properly
  • Asked when in the cycle the fault appears
Parts or tools mentioned
  • Door lock mechanism

Hello. Where did the fault description come from? It's a strange one to implicate 2 totally different and totally unconnected possible faults. Fault codes can be model specific. The same fault code can mean different things for different model ranges.

Linen stuck presumably means something might be blocking the pump filter? Keep door close implies as you say that it thinks the door isn't shut. A faulty door lock is always possible but as you've ruled it out the other thing to check is that the door latch on the door is OK and securely latching inside the door lock. When does the fault show, straight away or at some point in the cycle?
