Hi, we've just purchased a bosch wiw28500gb washing machine and my wife has gone to use it for the first time but can't seem to select a pre-wash from the display panel. She has selected cottons and put the detergent into the two compartments but just can't find how to select it. The instruction booklet isn't that brilliant, it says something about pre-wash but in additional programmes paperwork but we've looked at that and there's nothing about it.

Any idea's will be helpful, many thanks Jimmy

Hello Jimmy. Not being familiar with that particular model I couldn't say. Pre-wash is a wash cycle I would say is rarely used these days so might not be present.

If you just select a cottons wash cycle and put detergent on both sides of the soap drawer, you will have a problem unless there is specific compartment for pre-wash only. The extra detergent will get taken out on the 1st rinse. Normally, prewash detergent is put in the side of the soap drawer that gets water flushed through it on rinses. But if a pre-wash cycle is selected then this compartment will be flushed with water right at the beginning instead of on the 1st rinse.

Pre-wash cycles used to do a mini wash and then drain the water out ready for you to then select a main wash. This practice used to be common a long time ago when people used cotton nappies. Some washing machines might allow a pre-wash and the main wash cycle to be chosen so that the main wash automatically follows the pre-wash.
