Hello Richard. All of the water should drain out from the drum. It is normal for roughly a pint of water to be left inside the pump and some pause that you should see nothing in the drum. The most common cause for it only partially training is a partial blockage in the pump filter, inside the pump somewhere, or in the U bend under the sink if the drain hose is is connected there.
