Odd Bosch Thermostat coupling
I am just replacing the heating element in our Bosch Classics washing machine WVF2042GB02. However I had to snip off the red thermostat wire before removing the heating element (attached picture shows wire in situ before snipping). I'm now not sure how to re-attach except by soldering it. The flat post the wire is wrapped round seems redundant as it's not connected to anything. All other thermostats for Bosch appear to have two wires and a plastic connector. Anyone encountered this and solved the problem?

Shouldn’t the stat pull out of the old element and fit into the new one? I can’t imagine it working if it’s been cut if it’s a thermocouple type wire.

Is it working properly with the right temperature? I thought those thermocouple devices work by air expanding up the hollow wire?

Could be Andy. As the wire had snapped off I reasoned that it would just have carried on into the thermostat. So I found the broken point on the thermostat, buffed it back and drilled a fine hole through, the drill seemed to break through into an open space so I shoved 3/4 inch of the bared red wire into the thermostat and araldited it in. Re-assebled machine , switched on and BINGO a hot wash! Hope this will last.
It looks like it could be an obsolete part. Is it this? Bosch Neff Siemens Obsolete Regulator - Temperature

I could not pull out thermostat until the heating unit was removed (as per your video!). If I've buggered it is it going to be possible to get hold of a new unit for this machine? I can't find anything compatible with WVF2402GB02...
