As far as I can see it's the same. There are very few pages using the model W3240A (just 2 pages on Google) and one or two of them present it as W3240/A. With any manufacturer, there should never be two products with the same number but with a different letter at the end that have fundamental differences. It's usually minor differences. Hotpoint for example used a letter at the end of the model number to indicate the colour, so WM1A would be Almond and WM1P was polar white etc.
There's a feint possiblity the A is refering to something but the few W3240A links I found on Google just show the W3240 picture and some of them even only show W3240 with the A missing. Also, there is no reference to a W3240A on Miele's web site - only a W3240. It's possible that on the rating plate of a W3240 it could show an A, but Miele and most others just don't use it.

FYI
Just had my W3240'A' delivered from Dixons
and the Registration Guarantee card says 'W 3240' no reference of 'A' whatsoever.
Dixon's must have made a cataloging typo on their website.
I got a reply from Miele UK, they said there is no difference it's the same model.

'We only produce one W3240 so these model numbers are referring to the same machine.
