Bosch WAQ243D1GB/01 door hinge replacement query

The problem
The washing machine door hinge was broken, and the owner could not see normal steel screws holding the door together because the door appeared to be secured with plastic fasteners instead.
Likely cause
Broken door hinge. The discussion also indicates the door is assembled with plastic fasteners rather than conventional screws, which made access to the hinge unclear.
What fixed it
The accepted advice was to check whether the hinge was available separately or only as part of a complete door. The owner then reported drilling the top of the plastic 'donut' fasteners, without going through to the inner frame, which allowed the door to come apart. A new hinge was ordered for £8. The thread does not confirm the final fitting or that the repair was completed successfully.
Checks to try
  • Checked whether the hinge could be bought separately or only with a complete door
  • Drilled the top of the plastic fasteners to separate the door without drilling through to the inner frame
Parts or tools mentioned
  • New hinge
  • Drill

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Some washing machine doors now can’t be taken apart. Check on Ransom Spares to see if you can buy the hinge separately or does it come already fitted on a complete door.

Thanks for the reply. Have drilled the top of the donut shape not going all the way through to the inner frame and it came apart. Got a new hinge on order for £8. Will let you know how i get on in a couple of days.
