LG front loader drainage
Hi all - I have a LG front loader - about 7 years old. It started giving the OE error indicating a problem with drainage. I checked the filter and drainage hose - both were ok. I manually drained the water and continued the cycle - no further problems.
During the next load the same problem occurred. I rechecked the filter and drainage hose - again both were ok. So I removed the drainage pump and bench checked it - it seemed to work fine. I reinstalled the pump and for the next two loads had no problem, but on the third the same OE error occurred.
Any thoughts on what the cause could be? What should I check next?
Cheers
Paul.

LG front loader OE drain error may be due to pressure system fault rather than pump
- The problem
- A 7-year-old LG front loading washing machine intermittently showed an OE drainage error. The filter and drain hose were checked twice and found clear. The drain pump was removed and bench tested and appeared to work, but the OE fault returned after two more loads.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply suggests the fault may not be actual non-draining. A blocked or faulty pressure system may be falsely reporting that the machine has not drained, even if the water has pumped away.
- What fixed it
- The recommended next step was to confirm what happens when the OE error appears: check whether the machine is actually still full of water or whether it has drained normally. If it has drained, the pressure sensing system is the more likely area to investigate rather than the pump. The exact repair was not confirmed in the discussion.
- Checks to try
- Filter checked and found OK
- Drain hose checked and found OK
- Drain pump removed and bench checked
- Advice to confirm whether water is still in the machine when the OE error occurs
- Parts or tools mentioned
- Drain pump
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Sorry for a late reply. It may be fixed by now. But if a washing machine is giving a draining error don't believe it unless you can see that the washing machine is definitely not draining. The device for detecting if the water has drained out or not (the pressure system) can go faulty or become blocked and report a drain error when there isn't one. If so you can't fix it looking at the pump. So when it stops with the drain error - is it full of water or has it pumped away OK?
