On these Bosch/Siemens machines, if a new PCB has been fitted and the display is now showing an unfamiliar code, the first thing to say is that the code may not be a simple “fault code” at all. It can sometimes indicate a configuration/programming issue, or a mismatch between the main control and display/user interface board.

Before checking anything internal, isolate the appliance from the mains.

1. Check the exact replacement part Make sure the new PCB matches the full E-Nr/model and index number from the rating plate, not just the model family. Bosch often use very similar-looking boards that are not interchangeable without coding.

2. Check whether the board needed coding/programming Many Bosch control modules are supplied blank or only partially configured. If so, the machine can power up but show odd characters/codes or fail to operate properly. If the old display had failed first, there may also be a separate fascia/display board issue.

3. Recheck all plugs and connectors Remove power, then inspect every connector to the new PCB and display board. Look for a plug one pin out, loose connection, bent pins, or corrosion. A poor connection between main board and display can cause strange readouts.

4. Inspect the old fault carefully If the original symptom was only a dead display, the main PCB may not have been the actual cause. The user interface/display board or wiring loom may be at fault instead.

5. Post the exact code/photo If you can upload the picture or type the code exactly as shown, that may help narrow it down. Without the exact characters, it’s difficult to be certain.

If it turns out to need coding, that usually requires Bosch diagnostic equipment, so a qualified engineer is the sensible next step. Also use a qualified engineer for any mains, gas, or sealed refrigeration work.
