Hello,

I have an indesit washing machine and the drum has dropped.

I need to attach this again but not sure where the springs attach to.

There are a couple of holes on the side of the top frame either side but the opposite holes are not symmetrical.

I have attached a couple of pics.

Regards,

Hi. Are there marks on the plastic where the springs were? If the springs aren’t exactly the same one will be for front and one for the back. The aim is for the drum to be held dead in the centre.

Hello Rick. That's what I meant about what has caused the problem in the first place. Unfortunately if the drum has broken away like that it indicates that a very violent incident occurred. Such a violent incident could be caused by a fault on the washing machine, and/or the actual incident itself could have caused serious damage.

In all honesty I would scrap the washing machine. Hoses may have been pulled out, there could be crack or hole in the main outer drum, there could be a fault that causes the washing machine to lose control of the motor and spin out of control. Such a fault can be intermittent and difficult to trace.

However, if the springs have come off due to some other cause that you know was not the washing machine spinning violently out of control then you may be more confident that there isn't too much wrong with it. This article and links within it cover all aspects of trying to find out where the washing machine is leaking from.

further update:

I tried to run the washing machine but the washing cycle does not begin properly. It runs the initial filling then nothing happens, then tries filling again and then nothing happens.

there is also a leak now so I am wondering if the loose drum has crushed any of the ducting. Which duct should I check for damage.

machine is an indesit IWDC 6125

many thanks

Do you know what caused the drum to break free and door seal to come off? It could be something very serious and not worth repairing.

ok lifted drum.

I know need to reinsert the rubber band. Does the smaller circle of the band go on the front or on the drum?

No the springs should fit with everything in place. The springs go on the holes at the back of the plastic guides.
