[Video] Washing machine not draining

Hi all,

My Miele washing machine isn't draining properly. The 'check drain' LED has been flashing and the cycle has not been able to complete. I have checked the under sink trap (clear) and also checked that the machine is able to drain from the drain filter access panel (it was).

There were a couple of hair pins and a 5p coin in the drain filter area, which I've removed.

The impeller IS spinning, but it sounds a bit....crackly?! What do you think??

Many, many thanks

Hello there. It's difficult to tell from a video though I just assumed that noise was caused by the impeller hitting the water. The pump is a vortex pump which relies on creating a vortex so the pump is unlikely to work with the pump filter removed. If the pump is running and the impeller is not loose on the shaft all the blades of the impeller aren't broken then the water should get pumped up through the drain hose.

If it isn't then the suspects are that there is some sort of blockage inside the drain hose, or inside the U bend where the drain hose fits onto. I have a few articles about pump not draining but this one here is for when you cannot find a blockage, and the pump is running, but the water still does not drain out
