New to this site. I bought a brand spanking new Beko washer dryer about a year ago as all other big brands were out of stock.
From the word go, my washing never smells fresh/of fabric softener. I have tried everything; using less/more washing powder (live in a hard water area), less/more fabric softener, adding white vinegar, line drying, hanging on clothes horse to air even more after washing dry. There always seems to be a little fabric softener left in the drawer after the wash has finished. Not had that before.
Even with towels and bedding washed at higher temperatures the problem persists. I am very proud of both my home and appearance but have no idea how to fix this problem.

Hello there. It's possible that the fabric softener may be being taken out too soon. Normally, there shouldn't be anything left in the fabric softener compartment at the end of the wash, except maybe a very small amount of clear water.
I have an article here that discusses fabric softener is being taken out too soon so it's worth reading this to see if you get any clues. Make sure you don't overfill the fabric softener compartment and/or close the soap dispenser drawer too harshly. This can cause the softener to start siphoning away straightaway.
Another possible cause is if the water pressure is very powerful it could spray some water into the fabric softener compartment and start it off siphoning to early. This is explained in the article.
Another thing that you could try is to carefully open the soap dispenser drawer several times during the washes and rinses (though not when it is filling with water) just to check that the fabric softener is still all there right up until the end of the cycle.

hello @AMJ - you could try experimenting with different fabric softener , concentrated ones i find very strong smelling, especially the likes of Lenor conditioner, and other fabric softeners especially from lidl and aldi own brand not as strong.
Have you tried these kind of lenor scent booster granuals as well in your wash ?
Have you done a monthly drum clean maintenance wash at 90'c with no washing and no detergent in the drum ?
have you regularly removed the soap drawer out of the machine and took out the blue insert on the fabric softener side and cleaned it all under a running tap in the sink and cleaned out the soap drawer housing?
Do you leave the washing machine door open after every wash (and some even say the soap drawer a bit) just to let some fresh air circulate into the machine?

I always dry my washing machine; the seal, the drawer and components and leave the door open to air it.
I think I've sorted the problem now anyway. I don't think I was washing enough on higher temperatures. Always using the quick wash does the machine and items no favours at all.

ah yes that certainly would not help. - I dont even think washing machines can even reach 40'c or 60'c on quick washes and yet to kill germs / bacteria you have to wash at least at 60'c temperature for at least an hour .
I would say a lot of the time that if the bacteria is not killed after the previous wash then it can carry over to the next load you are washing.
The Dettol antibac laundry cleanser is supposed to kill bacteria at low temperatures and quick washes.
Exactly Andy. I thought I was being economical by using the quick wash on 40 and 60 degrees, taking around 35 minutes. Not long enough to kill germs and creating the most awful smell. Thank goodness its sorted now.
I'd much rather 2 hour 20 minutes wash with lovely smelling laundry than saving energy and worrying about people thinking I'm wearing dirty clothes 🙃

you imagine what a selling point is with a lot of people though - see it in an electrical showroom with something like "do a wash in as low as 15 minutes" , and they be like "oh lets go for that one!" .....
Aye the problem is that people assume it will still wash laundry properly only much quicker. But if that was the case why do they think the normal wash cycles take so long? If clothes can be washed properly in half an hour then all the cycles would be that quick.
The manufacturers are to blame for calling them "quick wash". They aren't really "wash" cycles they are often just for freshening up laundry that's not actually dirty.
