Morning all,
So my hotpoint washing machine is coming up with the error message F06 after some research I think I have come to the conclusion this is a door lock issue. After taking the thing apart and getting to the door lock I found that it had indeed burnt out and needed replacing after replacing it and the wiring I've tried to use it again the washing machine will start to fill and then stop after 1 minute and the same F06 error appears. On certain programs the washing machine will actually start to spin as well but after a few minutes again it stops and the F06 error message appears with all the lights flashing.
Anyone had anything similar or know why this is happening? Or is it rime to cut my losses and get a new machine?

I get extremely annoyed when I see things like this happen. I used to see hundreds of Hotpoint door locks with burned-out wiring similar to that back in the 1980s. It was a completely different design of door lock, but still Hotpoint, and still overheating and melting wiring on the door lock wiring. I think it's an absolute disgrace that in 2023 this is still happening.
The only thing that could possibly cause this, is if the contacts inside the door lock, or at the plastic connector, just don't make a good enough connection, or are not of sufficient quality, which causes this dangerous overheating. It's unbelievable that it's still happening.

I will take it apart again this evening and have another look check all the wires etc, I'm confident I made good connections but no harm in trying again as I am no further forward.
Just wondering if any other part could have been damaged when this issue occurred or do you thing its isolated to the locking mechanism?
When starting a program the red padlock illuminates indicating the door is locked so I'm assuming it is wired up correctly but after trying to fill with water within 1 minute the program stops and shows the error in the video posted above.
Il dismantle this evening again just to double check.

Hi Steve. If your washing machine is one of the models affected by the dangerous door lock, you need to get it modified. I would expect that if you fitted a new door lock that the new door lock would be better, but it could be that they've modified something else that is essential to prevent reoccurrence.
Assuming you have wired it up correctly, and I mean no disrespect, it's possible for a lapse of concentration to cause that, then if the door latch is connecting properly and activating the door lock, but it's still not working you'd have to suspect possible component damage on the PCB. Do not speculatively change it though, it's too expensive to gamble on.
Regarding F06 error, all my Hotpoint error codes miss it out, and do not use F06. They jump from F05 to F07. The only list that specifically mentions F06 just says "(not used)". However, my lists are several years old now.
