Hi Guys

Got an interesting one here - we have a Hotpoint Ultima wdd 960 washer dryer which has performed quite well but now its just showing off.

When we set it to run the standard one and a half hour cycle it runs for about three hours - any thoughts what might have gone wrong

Regards

roly

These type of fault is an anomaly because modern washing machines have fault detection built in and should abort the wash cycle with an error code if anything isn't working properly. Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines are known to be unable to detect certain errors such as the heating element going open circuit mid-cycle which can result in them sticking on a cycle. If you can detect that it is stuck on a specific part of the cycle it can help narrow things down such as if it seems to be filling up a lot more than normal or constantly filling, stopping, then taking more water in, washing then taking more in etc it can be siphoning. If it seems fine until it gets to the spin cycle then spends ages just tumbling back and forth and stopping but not getting on with a proper spin it can be stuck trying to balance a load that it can't deal with.
