Fabric softener drawer full of water

The fabric softener compartment is completely full of water after every wash. I have to take the drawer out to drain it after every wash, and it’s so full that water splashes out everywhere when I open the drawer. About two weeks ago it was taking about four washes for the compartment to be so full of water that I have to drain it, but it’s after every wash now.

I don’t actually use fabric softener and the machine is less than a month old and doing one wash a day, so it shouldn’t be blocked up with gunk. I’ve cleaned it anyway, got no build up out (looked spotless) but the problem is still continuing.

I don’t know if this is relevant but the machine was incorrectly installed by the shop we purchased from. The whole drum of water leaked from the bottom of the machine on the first cycle. We got our own plumber to fix this issue.
