hoover VTS714 D21 wont spin
Hey guys
So this machine has me puzzled.
it works completely fine on a cold wash! All functions (wash soon drain etc) work okay on a cold wash. Only when trying to do a warm wash at any temperature do I get the following errors….
The cycle will start… but will fail on the first drain before the rinse cycle. It throws an E03 error which is a pump error. The pump is clean and free from any obstruction, also when I fill this machine up with water and empty it on a cold cycle it empties without any issue what so ever.
anyway, immediately after throwing this error, if I try to put it on manual spin it throws an E16 error indicating an issue with the heating element.
I’ve tested the heating element with a multimeter and it’s fine. I’ve tested the thermoster and this is fine. The water also heats up to 90o no problem when hot wash is selected, it just won’t complete the cycle.
I’ve also blown down the pressure sensor incase that was causing an issue but still I can’t get this to work.
after these error codes I have to leave the machine overnight before doing a cold wash in the morning which runs no problem at all. However if I try to run the cold wash immediately after getting the errors it continues to throw errors.
can anybody shed any light before I scrap this?
many thanks
dan

Hello Dan. Yes this does sound confusing. The only thing that springs to mind is a theoretical but probably rare cause. If there was an accumulation of gunge inside the pressure system (pressure chamber bottle) that is only partial, and still allowed air to pass through it.. And somehow, although when the water is cold the blockage remains structured and allows air through, when the water is warm this blockage softens and closes up. This would block the pressure system and could cause an E03 error code.
Blowing down the pressure tubing is something I used to do myself but it will only detect an actual blockage. In order to discount the pressure chamber getting blocked you would have to remove it and physically check it.
The only other thing I think of that can cause a fault to only occur when the washing machine heats up is some fault that is only triggered when the washing machine has been on for a long time, or when the washing machine heats up and things start to expand. This could be a connection somewhere or some part that only fails when hot.

Update… it was the thermoster which is connected to the element. Swapped it out and now all works well 🙏
Cheers Danny. Remember it's only the first line of enquiry but even if you don't find anything it will at least have eliminated one of the possibilities.

Hey Andy, thanks for the help and recommendation, I’ll get that pressure tube out and inspect the entire line when I get back to my home next week. I’ll let you know if it worked.
Many thanks again 🙏
