Retracted emergency drain hose with cap missing on Beko washing machine
- The problem
- The emergency drain hose had retracted back inside the Beko washing machine and its cap was missing. The concern was whether the machine could still be used or whether it would leak.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply states that with the emergency drain hose cap off, water will come out of that hose when water is put into the machine, so using it in that condition is likely to cause flooding.
- What fixed it
- Do not use the washing machine until the emergency drain hose has been retrieved and secured. The accepted advice was to remove the lower plastic kick strip to access and retrieve the hose.
- Checks to try
- Confirmed that the emergency drain hose had retracted back into the machine
- Confirmed that the hose cap was off
- Accepted advice said water would flood out of the hose if the machine was used
- Parts or tools mentioned
- plastic kick strip
- flat bladed screwdriver
Safety: Do not use the washing machine while the emergency drain hose is uncapped, as water is likely to leak out. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hi. If the cap is off, it will flood out of the hose if water is put into the washing machine. You might have to remove the plastic kick strip to retrieve it. It should come off easily. Maybe a couple of screws, or often just gently levering it away with a flat bladed screwdriver from the top.
There are various ways that the kick strip should come off but it should be easy to work out how to do it. The kickstrip is the plastic surround at the bottom of the front of the washing machine.
