Hi

My Hotpoint washing machine dispalys code f-02 which is motor jammed /tach disconected but if you stop the machine you can turn the drum by hand

i have replaced the shock absorbers and springs with genuine hotpoint parts as i thought they may have been triggering the unbalanced load switch

The motor bearing and belt are fine and the drum does not seem to have any room on the bearing. The machine will go through a full cycle if there is no load in it but as soon as you put a load in it starts to play up the drum moves around so violently that it is hitting the steel casing of the machine and almost lifts it self off the ground. Only thing i can think of is the drum bearing locking up under load any ideas please

This error code has some help on Whitegoodshelp - Hotpointerror code F02

It basically means that the washer can't detect the motor is turning even though it knows it is sending a supply to the motor and can detect no other faults. One of the explanations is that the drum has jammed, which could account for no actual faults on the motor and the motor being powered but unable to turn. However, if you can turn the drum ok by hand and the belt is not off you've discounted the possibility in your case. The other possibility is that the tacho coil or the tacho magnet has dropped off and is therefore not sending the signals to the pcb that the motor is turning.

In older washing machines, if the tacho magnet or coil come off the machine would commonly lose all control of the motor causing it to spin on wash. More machines shouldn't allow this to happen and instead should result in the motor refusing to run. Read the explanation for the Hoover error code to get more information about this fault.

Hello George. I can only give the same answer as my last one above. The article I linked to explains all possible cause of the fault that I'm aware of in detail. If the motor or drum is not physically jammed then as the article says the tacho coil on the motor could have dropped off. The motor would then get powered up but because the control PCB didn't get any signal from the motor it thinks it is jammed.

Hi

My washing machine shows this error code. The drum spins by hand when stopped but will not spin during the cycle. I opened the back and set the cycle off again; it seems the the motor tries to spin the drum but then stops almost immediately (this happens whether loaded or unloaded).

Can anybody help with this please?
