Zanussi Motor Not Spinning
my Zanussi TurboDry 1000 does not spin properly. i have checked the brushes and they look ok, so now i am trying to figure out whether the motor is also ok. i am trying to do a continuity test as described here:
http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/forums/topic/67-hotpoint-wm31-spin-failure/page__p__237__hl__%2Bcontinuity+%2Bpins__fromsearch__1#entry237
Zanussi washing machine: Model TurboDry W 1042 W Motor: MCA 38/64-148/ZN20 8 Pin connector Pin 1 : Brown Pin 2 : Blue (brush 1) Pin 3 : Light brown (brush 2) Pin 4 : Grey Pin 5 : Grey Pin 6 : Black Pin 7 & 8 : Red (these are thinner and seems like it is the tacho coil)
There is continuity between Pin 1 and Pin 6, i get a reading of 02.5 There is continuity between Pin 2 and Pin 3, i get a reading of 04.3 There is continuity between Pin 4 and Pin 5, i get a reading of 00.7
How do i know if the motor is ok from these readings ?
thanks very much

If the brushes are not worn right down, and are nice and shiny plus you get a reading between them through the appropriate pins they should be ok. If you get continuity between the other pins then it implies the motor should run or at least attempt to run. If it doesn't then other problems such as connection issues on the motor plugs could be to blame. Also the control module may be faulty. I never advise anyone to speculatively replace control modules or pcbs though. You get no possibility of returning them, they can be expensive, and are the most misdiagnosed parts on washing machines.
If you've eliminated anything obvious I would advise getting an engineer in rather than speculatively swapping parts.
