I did a continuity test on the old element and it seems fine
I have no error codes or anythign to indicate what is wrong.
i would be greatful if someone is able to advise. i am an electrician, so i can perform technical checks if needed.
kind regards

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Hotpoint WDL540G washer/dryer not heating water, element replacement did not cure fault
- The problem
- A Hotpoint WDL540G washer/dryer was reported as not heating the water. The owner replaced the heating element, but the appliance still did not heat and no fault code was shown.
- Likely cause
- The exact cause was not confirmed. The accepted reply indicates the original heater should have been meter-tested before replacement and notes that similar cases can occur with no error code, but no definite failed component or wiring fault was identified in this thread.
- What fixed it
- No confirmed repair was documented. The accepted advice was to test the heater with a meter and only replace it if open circuit or leaking to earth. As the replacement element did not resolve the fault and no further diagnosis or final fix was posted, the exact repair was not confirmed. Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.
- Checks to try

- Heating element replaced with no improvement
- Continuity test carried out on the old element

The heater should be tested with a meter before thinking of replacing it and only be replaced if it's open circuit or down to earth but I suppose you know that now
