My machine will operate for so long, then it seems when its time to start a fast spin it will have a few attempts then lock out. It has a flashing red light and two green flashing lights (I think its 2 & 4) I have the back opened just now and the belt seems ok and pretty tight. Any suggestions folks?? I repair boilers for a living so I am used to working on appliances and testing etc...

The only error codes I have for Indesit displayed by flashing option lights shows 2 & 4 as -

F05: "Pressure switch jammed full or pump blockage - check pump and pressure switch".

I can't guarantee it's your fault but it does seem to fit with the error only occurring when it's trying to spin. When the water has emptied the pressure switch, which has been held in the on position by the water pressure should switch off, and the machine knows it's ok to spin. If the pressure switch doesn't switch off because of a faulty pressure switch, or more commonly, a blockage in the pressure system allowing pressure to be maintained when the water has gone - then the programme thinks it hasn't drained the water. Alternatively of course a pump problem or blockage can actually prevent the water from draining properly causing exactly the same problem

2 & 3 aren't used on the Indesit fault codes I have. I couldn't say without a wiring diagram but the pressure switch should just be a switch that's on when no water (pressure) in the machine and when activated it passes power elsewhere. Check there isn't a small blockage in the pressure chamber at the bottom of the tube. Try gently blowing down it from the pressure switch end. If there is, it really needs properly cleaning out.

I tried the pressure switch tube again and it started. Its running just now. I took the pressure switch off, i noticed 3 wires on it. When i blew down the switch i got continuity through pins 1 & 2. However when the switch is resting i get no continuity through 1 & 3. Is this correct, i know that boilers which have 3 wire switch's have continuity through both sides, when its open and the other pin when its closed

Machine broke down again. Now when it goes on, it keeps trying to start filling then it stops. It will fill so far then lock out and drain the water out. It flashes the red led and lights 2 & 3. My girlfriend seems to think it was always 2 & 3. I was sure it was 2 & 4 before.

What does this fault point to???

Hi

Thanks for the reply, I did a bit of research online yesterday and found out it was a problem in the pressure switch area. I took of the hose that runs from the bottom of the machine to the switch and blew through it. Re-connected it and it worked fine! Happy days!
