Indesit Wixe127 Replace Wire Connector

Hi,

Our Indesit WIXE127 Washing Machine blew a fuse on the main fuse box and the plug itself. Once the fuses were replaced the door no longer locked itself. After removing the door seal and unscrewing the door interlock there was some obvious damage to both the lock and wire connector.

I am not worried about the door interlock as it can be easily replaced with the following part:

However as you can see from the attached picture the connector is also damaged and wondered if anyone knew where I could buy a replacement?

Thanks,

Graeme

Parts like that are usually impossible to buy without placing a special order. If you make a parts request at www.4washerhelp.co.uk they should be able to order one. However, damage like that is caused by quite a big short so I'd be cautious about just replacing the door interlock and connector without checking if something could have caused this problem in the first place. It really needs an insulation test meter on it to check for shorts. Maybe water got onto something and blew it? It's possible the door interlock did that on its own but it's also possible something else blew the interlock.

Hi: Insulation test meters are only usually carried by repair engineers as they are too expensive. If the door seal has any holes in the side near the door interlock it's possible some water got onto the door interlock and shorted it out. It's also possible the short could have damaged printed circuitry elsewhere into the machine.

Thanks, didn't realise you had a parts request form which I have now used and eagerly await a response.

I agree that this kind of damage might be a signal of a bigger problem. In the meantime I plan to replace the door seal and lock and start budgeting for a new washing machine.

Out of interest do you know of any guides or equipment needed to carry out an insulation test?
