Hi. My washing machine wasnt draining properly so after investigation it had 50p stuck in the hose which I have now removed. When I put it all back together and tried to start a new wash it just spins slowly and the wash programme doesn't start. No water comes into the machine, it just spins slowly each way. I've put it on rinse and water comes in and that seems ok. Ive tried to jusy spin but again it just goes slowly each way. It's like it's stuck on one programme.

I've tried everything I can think of. . Please help!

Solution Summary

AI-generated from this discussion

This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.

Hoover Select 1500 slowly tumbles and will not begin wash after drain blockage

The problem
After a 50p coin was removed from the hose to cure a draining problem, the Hoover Select 1500 would not start a normal wash. On wash and spin selections it only turned slowly back and forth, with no water entering. On rinse, water did enter normally.
Likely cause
Most likely a blockage in the pressure system, causing the machine to think water is still inside. The accepted reply states this would prevent water intake and fast spin.
What fixed it
Check the pressure system for blockage. The discussion does not confirm the exact repair carried out, only the supported diagnosis from the accepted solution.
Checks to try
  • 50p coin found and removed from the hose
  • Machine slowly turns each way on wash
  • No water enters on wash programme
  • Rinse programme allows water in
  • Spin selection also only turns slowly each way
  • Accepted advice was to check the pressure system for blockage

Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Check the pressure system in case there's a blockage and the washer thinks it has water inside when it hasn't the result would be no fast spin and not taking any water in. Finding faults on pressure system
