Hoover Nextra6 Hnwl 7166 Not Heating Up.
Good Afternoon,
I have a hoover nextra6 HNWL 7166 which is approximately 7 years old, It has been a very faithful workhorse hence I am posting here in the hope that I can give it a new lease of life.
A few days ago the condenser tumble drier stopped getting warm during the tumble cycle regardless of duration or temperature set, I tested with nothing in it and still cant feel any warmth around the machine at all, *there was previously warmth during the tumble cycle. However after further investigation there is no heat coming through in the water either, I put it on a very hot wash with nothing in it at all and there is no warmth to the machine, I have read the http://www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/washing-machine-not-heating-up-water/post and although the machine was never boiling before there was some warmth to the machine top and front when it was on.
Also to add there are no flashing error sequences on the front display lights.
So here's my question, I have looked through some of the posts here and on other sites as reference and wonder if it is possible that there is only one fault with the machine (for example a thermostat which controls both water and air heat) or has the machine possibly run its last cycle ?. I've also looked at the pictures of the heating elements on this forum and cannot find where mine would be located.
Thanks in advance for the help. Sorry for the long post.
Solution Summary
AI-generated from this discussion
This thread was marked as solved. Here's a summary of the problem and the fix, generated from the discussion below.
Hoover Nextra6 HNWL 7166 washer-dryer not heating in either wash or dry modes
- The problem
- A Hoover Nextra6 HNWL 7166, about 7 years old, stopped producing heat in both functions. The condenser dryer cycle no longer gets warm at any setting, and hot wash programmes also show no sign of heating. The user reported no warning lights or flashing error sequence.
- Likely cause
- The accepted reply states the wash and dry systems use separate heating arrangements, with separate elements, thermostats and thermal protection devices. On that basis, a single shared thermostat fault was not supported. No definite common cause was identified from the discussion.
- What fixed it
- No confirmed repair was given. The accepted advice was that the washer and dryer heating circuits are separate, so the suggested next step was to investigate the dryer no-heat condition using general no-heat guidance. The exact repair for this appliance was not confirmed in the thread.
- Checks to try
- Dryer cycle tested at different durations and temperature settings with no heat felt
- Machine run empty to check for warmth
- Very hot wash tested with no warmth to top or front of machine
- Front display checked and no flashing error sequence reported
Safety: Further diagnosis should be carried out by a suitably qualified appliance engineer.

Hello. Each part of the washer dryer has completely separate heating arrangements. They have separate heating element, separate thermostats, and separate thermal protection devices (TOC's). So I can't think of any possible cause for both the washer and the dryer section not heating up.
I also have two articles covering a tumble dryer not heating. Although aimed at tumble dryers it should be pretty relevant for the tumble dryer section of a washer dryer too. Have a look at these articles -
tumble dryer not heating part one
tumble dryer not heating part two
