Problem With Electrolux Ewt 14720 W

Hi all. I'd really appreciate your help.

I have a top loading Electrolux Inspire EWT 14720 W. It's a Swedish or Finnish machine (don't ask!!).

When I turn it on, after about 7-8 minutes the time remaining on the screen has only gone down by one or two minutes and then it cuts off. It gives an error code E10, which in the manual translates to- 'the water tap is closed, the distribution of water has been interrupted'!

Some water is entering the drum as the clothes inside get a little bit wet, but not at all soaked! A lot of water is coming out of the drain hose. It sounds like it's just trying to draw in water and doesn't actually start spinning!

I've just moved on to a house boat. The machine came with the boat. I thought the problem could be from the boat's pump not providing enough water/pressure to the machine. But not only does the pump seem to provide a powerful and constant supply of water (and had never been a problem before for the boat's previous occupant), to be sure I just connected the machine directly to an outside tap with ample pressure and still had the same problem!

I've checked the front filter and the tiny filter, both of which where spotless!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Rob

As it's recently been installed, the first thing I would check is that it isn't losing water by siphoning due to the drain hose being too low down - Is water going down the drain quietly siphoning out

Thank you so much for the fast response and correct advice.

It was as you said- I had disconnected the drain hose while I moved things around a bit and decided not to reconnect it while I tinkered with things. It seems so obvious now that this was what caused the problem!!

You have saved me a great amount of time and money, I am incredibly grateful!! I will use your links and recommend this site to others.

Al the best,

Rob
