Hi I have an Electrolux EWX14450w and the drum seems very loose from side to side and hits the side panel when in spin mode. I’ve taken the top and back off and can’t see anything obvious broken. Can you advise

Hello Jamie. The first thing to check is that the main outer drum is held nice and centrally within the casing and not leaning or twisted to one side or from front to back. Then that there are no suspension legs that seemed damaged, loose, or just badly worn. The drum should be fairly loose as it is suspended on springs and dampers, but it shouldn't move from side to side too easily. The suspension dampers work by absorbing the movement of the drum up and down on spin. If it is translated to side to side instead then it can bang about a lot. If it is doing it just occasionally and for a short while it might just be an outer balance load but if it does it all of the time and constantly it is something more serious. I have a full article on what causes washing machine drum to bang about here Jumps and bangs on spin
